Order Inquiry / Request
Contact Us (call or email) and provide some preliminary information:
- The type of product (gift stone, landscape stone, etc.) you had in mind and the size you were considering
(refer to our prices page for approximate sizes).
- The text and graphics you would like on your stone or the message you would like to convey. If you don't
know the specific graphics you want, tell us a general theme and we will provide you some examples.
- How your stone will be displayed, e.g. In a landscape, inlay and type / color of surrounding stone, etc.
Preliminary Design
- Stones - We will select several stones and email you pictures of the stones.
- Graphics - We have an extensive graphics library. If we do not have your specific graphic:
- We will search the internet to see if we can acquire the graphic.
- If you have a unique graphic requirement, e.g. company logo, brand, or picture of an object, we would
prefer to get an electronic copy of that in a vector format (EPS, PS, VSD, etc).
- If you can only provide a hard copy photo, or electronic copy in a jpg, or bmp, or tif, format, we will
need to convert it into the vector format needed by our design software. This is a multi-step process as shown below. Additional charges may apply (refer to prices tab).
- Designs - We will create some preliminary designs with different fonts and styles. We will email you a
prototype of how the designs would look on the stones.
- From these preliminary designs, you can then select your stone and the design you prefer. You can even
select the font style from one design and the graphics from another.
- If necessary, we will send you a revised design for your review and approval.
Final Design / Firm Quote and Deposit
- After the design is finalized, we will send you a firm quote on the price of your order, provide you with an
approximate completion date and request a 50% deposit.
- We accept PayPal, cashiers checks, money orders, or cash.
- Normally you should allow 1 - 2 weeks for completion.
Sandblasting, Painting, and Sealing
- After your decision, using a cutting plotter, we cut your design stencil onto a piece of 35 mil sandblast resist
(rubber).
- The areas that are to be sandblasted are weeded (removed) from the rubber stencil. The sandblast resist
has an adhesive on the under side. The backing is removed and the side with the adhesive is carefully placed on the stone and then rolled or pounded with a rubber mallet to ensure a tight seal between the rubber and the stone.
- As we sandblast the stone, the exposed areas are carved away while the resist protects the unexposed
areas of the stone.
- While the resist is still on the stone, the sandblasted areas are painted.
- The resist is removed and the stone is sealed with a spar urethane. The sealer protects the stone from the
weather and also provides a UV protection for the painted surfaces.
Completed Stone Photo - Pick-up / Delivery / Shipping
- Upon completion, you will be provided a photo of the completed stone.
- If you are picking up your sign, or we are delivering it, payment of the 50% balance will be due on delivery.
- If we are shipping your product, it will be shipped upon receipt of the final payment.
